At 02:04 this morning Weymouth ALB was tasked to the 9 metre ketch Phillias, which we towed in on Sunday, the vessel was aground on Chesil Beach at Langton Herring with one person on board , due to a heavy swell the Y boat was unable to reach the casualty so a rocket line was fired , the skipper managed to get hold of the painter but due to a strong current he could not pull the tow rope to his vessel, after a few attempts and as he was tired and cold he made his way up the beach where he was met by Wyke CRT and was airlifted by Coastguard helicoter to hospital.
Weymouth ALB returned to station 07:30.
